Love and other theories- Review

Hello Again!

Today I’m going to be reviewing Love and other theories by Alexis Bass.

Okay, so I originally picked this book up because I keep seeing it everywhere I went and so I thought this would be the book to get me out of my slump!

It was not! Oh, my God, I found this book tortuous to get through and I almost DNF’d so many times.

The book follows Aubrey housing and her friends in their last year of high school. These girls have created theories that are meant to protect them from heartbreak. Personally, I saw the theories as excuses for them to treat guys like sh*t and I thought they were horrible. Then Nathan Diggs comes along and Aubrey sets his sights on him… Now I will say the story did not go where I thought it would. I assumed that Nathan would be the one to make her fall in love with love again and they would live happily ever after…

Instead, she ruins him and then because the author decided the book needed a plot he goes off with her best friend Shelby. Now usually this is where I would turn against Nathan but honestly, I didn’t care, Why should I pity Aubrey when she’s been going off to constantly meet her ex in secret.  Honestly, I just couldn’t find anything likeable or relatable about these characters. They kind of reminded me of the plastics from Mean Girls ..but worse.

The ending is a bit anti-climatic. That’s all I’ll say on that…

To be honest I think that the author was trying to be too clever and new and I just don’t think it worked.

Physical Book: The cover is eye-catching and interesting and is the main reasons I bought it. Not my favourite cover but I like its simplicity.

Favourite Quotes:

“The longer they have to let you down. But sometimes, the longer you know someone, the more time they have to surprise you.”

Star Rating: I gave this 2/5 stars on Goodreads.

And that’s it, guys!

Thank you so much for reading and be sure to let me know your opinions on this book.
