I’m currently stuck at home in bed with an awful stomach bug and I thought; what better thing could cheer me up than talking about my trip to Disneyland Paris.
I’ll be talking about our second day of the trip but if you haven’t read day one’s’ review you can do so here: https://wordpress.com/post/booksbeforeboy.wordpress.com/3400
On to day two:
So every morning I got my poor mother up at 6:45 so we could get ready and be at breakfast by at least 7:15. The breakfast at the Santa Fe was perfect, it was completely continental but still lots to choose from, My mum would usually make a ham and cheese toastie and I would munch a mountain of doughnuts and croissants.
If you stay at a Disney hotel, each morning there is a character meet and greet in the lobby each morning at 8:15 so after breakfast I would head straight to lobby and join the queue. My first meet and greet of the trip was Pluto who was just so cuddly.
I highly recommend doing the hotel meet and greets as the queue moves very fast and there is a photopass photographer present so if you’ve purchased the photopass plus it’s worth it!
Once we got to the parks for extra magic hours we headed straight to the princess pavilion. I had expected this to be our longest queue of the day but with mums orange pass we were able to go in after about 5 minutes. I had been expecting to meet Rapunzel as that’s what I’d seen on the board but when I walked in it was actually Tiana! I was in shock, I thought I’d walked into the wrong room or something but after the meet and greet I checked the board and it turned out Rapunzel was on in the afternoon and Tiana was a surprise princess that morning.
After this, we went to see what the wait time was for Mickey Mouse but again with Mums pass we were able to go in super quickly.
Meeting Mickey was magical, as soon as I walked in he was kissing my hands and he loved my bag that had ears on it as well as a keyring of him. Mum had pirate ears on and so he pretended to be a pirate too! So cute.
Next, we caught the early Christmas parade which is so cool, the floats are just so colourful and the music will be stuck in your head all day!
We also went to see “Mickeys Big Christmas Band” in Discoveryland which is like Christmas songs but in a swing style… I really enjoyed this show. It’s a nice way to take a break from all the walking too.
We saw “Merry Stitchmas” as well this is the show that replaced the Starlight Princess Waltz at the castle. This is about Mickey and Minnie preparing for Christmas and stitch not really understanding what was happening. It was a fun quick show, have a look at it if your passing but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it.
We also spent time exploring the castle which I highly recommend, you can go upstairs and see the story of Sleeping Beauty through stained glass windows, you can go downstairs and see the Dragon! On the ground floor, you have Merlin’s shop where you can make your very own magic wand, I did expect this to be a bit more of an experience but from my research, it does depend on the castmember whos working in there at the time. Apparently “Hugo” is the best so if you do want to get a wand made keep an eye out for him.
Next, we did a few rides, now obviously we could only do the really gentle rides but there is actually a lot of gentle rides so don’t worry if you can’t or don’t want to do the big thill ones.
We did: Les Pays des Contes de Fées – Love this one, it’s a boat ride with miniature versions of their stories.
Casey Junior – This is cute, short ride that wraps around the story-boat ride so you can wave at the people in the boats.
Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains- This is like a little train ride, I didn’t love this, to be honest, I think the animatronics are a bit creepy!
We also went back to the pavilion to see Rapunzel and I got a great interaction with her especially since I was bounding as her that day, she loved my ears!
We also saw Thumper and Miss Bunny, these guys were so cheeky! Miss bunny kept going through my shopping bags and was cross with me because I had bought a mickey mouse teddy but not a teddy of her.
Marie was my absolute favourite meet and greet though, I’ve not seen the aristrocats since I was very little but I had heard she does the best meet and greets and she really does. Even before I met her, We had gone up to the cast member to get a time for Mums pass and Marie snuck up and stole the cast members’ hat and put it on the Christmas tree by her. When it was my turn she was so funny she kept batting my lanyard and wouldn’t give me my pen back after she’d signed my autograph book. 100 percent if Marie is there…You have to meet her!
Next, we saw the regular 25th-anniversary stars on parade, oh my god, this is incredible the floats are so gorgeous and detailed. The music is so catchy, and because I was dressed like Rapunzel, Flynn gave me a “smoulder” as he passed. Mowgli and Peter Pan waved at me too. I loved this parade.
We finished the night by having dinner at the plaza gardens, to be honest, I wouldn’t go back there for dinner, The food was nice but not worth the value of the meal plan cost. I didn’t like any of the deserts and the service was shocking!
So that was day two of Disney.
I hope you’re enjoying these blogs we still have three days to go so keep your eyes peeled… ( Honestly have no idea when I’ll have time to write them but keep your eyes peeled anyways)
