Happy New Year! Hope you’ve had an amazing start to the year, of course, like everyone I’ve been reflecting on the past year. A lot of my friends have been posting memories and reviews on Instagram stories and I thought I want to do that, but Instagram stories disappear (I think, right?) and so I thought I’d put mine up here and I could look back on them.
These are just some of my favourite moments of 2017:
The Emmerdale Tour
In January myself and mum went over to the set of Emmerdale, one of our favourite shows, I won’t go into too much detail as I did a full report in a previous blog post so check that out if you are interested.
In January also, I took my neighbour’s kid to see the pantomime Cinderella, In December we went to see Beauty and the Beast, I love taking him to see the panto and watch his face as he’s entranced by the magic. It such a joy.
Chopping the hair
This year I made the decision to cut my hair up short and I still think this is one of the best decisions of my life, no more getting my hair caught when I zip up my coat!
Production Manager of American Idiot
This year I worked as the Production manager of my college’s musical society production of American Idiot. It was my first time doing this sort of work in theatre and I gained so much from the experience.
Midsummer Nights Dream
Shortly after I performed in our third-year play A Midsummer Nights Dream as Hermia. This reminded me how much I enjoyed acting!
Beauty and The Beast
Beauty and the beast has been a big part of my life this year, seeing the film, completing the sticker album and checking pennys every single day for the chip mug! I was also spoiled on my birthday and Christmas with merch, my friends and family are amazing. I have 3 chip mugs now!
I’ve always loved funfairs so it was such fun to go to funderland with some friends and just have such a good day, I even went on the one that goes upside down!
In August, I turned 21 and I celebrated with … a tea party of course. I had such an incredible time with all my friends and family and I was utterly spoilt by all the incredible people in my life.
Met Carrie Hope Fletcher
As part of my birthday celebrations, my mum took me up to Dublin to see some friends and to go to Carrie Hope Fletchers book signing for “All that she can see” I was actually a bit taken aback seeing her and so went a bit shy and nervous I wish I’d told her how much she inspires me, oh well hopefully she will do one for her next book and I will have another opportunity.
Birthday Trip with Dad
My dad also arranged a surprise birthday trip to Dublin to see Sister Act and have my own private tour of the Abbey Theatre, again I’ve written a longer blog post about this but I couldn’t leave it out of the highlights reel.
Started working on my very own show!
Over the past two years I’ve been writing a play and this year I’ve finally started working towards putting on a full production of the show this year and so its cast, my team is in place and I am beyond excited to start working more on it and sharing it with the world.
Getting My Writing Space
One of my modules in college early in the year was script-writing and I just fell in love with the craft of writing, I’ve always loved creative writing in school but when I left primary I kind of forgot about it until this module came about, It sparked something in me and so I got my very own writing space set up which I love and I hope to write a book from here soon!
Working On The Events.
On the 17th to 21st of January 2018 my year will be putting on a production of “The Events” by David Grieg, I’ve been working as the assistant production manager and I am just so proud and honoured to be a part of this production. It is an incredible story that I am proud to help tell.
If you want to find out more information about the show or even buy tickets to come see it you can here: https://www.facebook.com/events/319111275238875/ you will not regret it!
Disneyland Paris !!
And of course, as if you didn’t hear me talk about this enough, this year I went to Disneyland Paris and just had the most magical time. Again I won’t go into detail here but check out my blog for more in-depth posts about the trip.
I would say that I had an incredible 2017 and yeah sure there were some downs but the ups completely outweighed them. Thanks to everyone who was a part of it. I have some seriously good vibes about 2018, already I have some very exciting things planned so watch this space.
Thanks so much for reading, either this one post or any of my posts this year it is always and forever appreciated.
